The six Clinical Commissioning Groups in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent have been working on compiling a first joint Equality and Inclusion Strategy for the next three years.

We would very much welcome your feedback on shaping this CCGs’ strategy, from as wide a range of local groups and organisations as possible, both on the strategy itself and also on the four equality objectives which are set out in the strategy. We are particularly seeking feedback from seldom heard groups / protected characteristic groups / inclusion health groups and their representatives.
Your feedback is very valuable as we are committed to working with patients, carers and public including our seldom heard groups, to ensure their voice is considered and acted upon where ever possible.

Staffordshire CCGs will also be seeking bespoke feedback from a range of seldom heard / vulnerable groups across Staffordshire including via our Local Equality Advisory Forum or LEAF groups in the north, and the developing group meeting in south / east of Staffordshire.
EDS public gradings shaped new Equality Objectives / E&I Strategy
CCGs held their first joint Equality Delivery System (EDS) annual public grading on 27 October 2015 at North Staffordshire CCG. Local community stakeholder groups, including protected group representatives, were invited to attend the grading of CCGs’ equality performance for 2014 to 2015. This event focused on evidence for Goal 1 and Goal 4 i.e. G1: Better health outcomes, and G4: Inclusive leadership at all levels.
EDS Goal 2 : Improved patient access and experience, was publicly graded by stakeholders / seldom heard group representatives on 17 May 2016 at North Staffordshire CCG. EDS Goal 2 evidence was made available to view in advance, on both CCG EDS webpages.
EDS is the NHS wide equality performance framework mandated by NHS England from April 2015. This involves CCGs and their larger provider partners in gathering equality evidence presented via a transparent annual public grading carried out by local trained volunteer stakeholders.
Findings and recommendations from the 2015 and 2016 EDS public grading events helped CCGs to develop three new Equality Objectives from November 2015 to May 2016. The E&I Strategy sets out how CCGs will jointly deliver on these Objectives, as well as meeting the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). EDS grading reports are available to view or download from our EDS webpages and are also available in Easy Read format (EDS Easy Read). An annual EDS action plan has also been developed from findings and recommendations to CCGs and is monitored by the Joint Organisational Development Committee (ODC).
Feedback was received on the E&I Strategy up until September 2016 and governing body approval was given by both CCGs at the February 2017 Governing Board meeting in common.
