National recruitment process launches to appoint designate chief executives of the anticipated 42 Integrated Care Boards
The national recruitment process to appoint the designate Chief Executives of the anticipated 42 NHS Integrated Care Boards (subject to legislation*) has now launched.
The adverts are now live on a national site, supporting the Chief Executive recruitment process: www.ICS-CEO-Recruitment.com. The closing date for applications is 23:59 hours on Sunday 26 September 2021.
The designate Integrated Care Board (ICB) Chief Executive role will be responsible for improving outcomes in population health and healthcare, working with colleagues, the community and partners to deliver a long-term strategy.
Each ICB – serving between 500,000 and three million people - will hold a substantial budget for commissioning high quality patient care and the authority to establish performance arrangements to ensure this is delivered.
A competitive salary will reflect:
- the vast knowledge and experience these leaders will bring to the role
- responsibility for multi-billion-pound budgets
- the experience needed to work with partners across systems to deliver long-term local strategies for the good of local populations
- the increase in responsibility following the move from multiple Clinical Commissioning Groups to a single system leadership role
- the need to drive forward key priorities including vaccine roll-out, elective recovery, addressing health inequalities and embedding a population health management approach.
Leaders of the 42 Integrated Care Systems (ICSs)s should reflect the populations they serve, so the new roles will be advertised widely with the aim to recruit leaders from diverse backgrounds. The process is transparent, and applicants have the right to appeal against the process if they think it unfair.
To support the national process, we have pulled together an introductory pack to our local ICS, which can be found by clicking on the link here . We hope that this is helpful and that it encourages a broad range of applicants.
The opportunity to harness the system leadership across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent is both exciting and attractive. We are seeking a compassionate, credible and inspirational Chief Executive who will embody our vision, lead a strategic and innovative approach to service transformation, whilst cultivating a collaborative and empowering culture within the ICS. If you are driven by the values of social justice and inclusion, have a strong desire to improve care for local people and a passion to improve health outcomes, then please take time to read this pack and apply.
