Designing your local health services

Our Consultation Mandate

North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) will undertake a pre-consultation exercise to gather the views and opinions of Statutory bodies, MPs, Local Authority Leaders, service providers, patients, carers and those who may use services in the future, about their local health care needs from October to December 2017. The information gathered will be used to inform the development of options to design local health care services on which we will formally consult during 2018.

No decisions about the long term provision of rehabilitation beds will be made until this process is complete.

How to get involved

We are gathering the views of local people on how we could deliver the best services to all patients to meet their changing health needs. This involves working with you to develop the options that we will be consulting you about in 2018. The aim is to design high quality, accessible and affordable local health services that meet your needs in and around Leek Moorlands Hospital, Haywood Hospital, Longton Cottage Hospital, Bradwell Hospital and Cheadle Hospital.

We want to know what’s important to you and which services meet your needs. We are keen to explore what changes could be possible, taking into consideration the need to spend the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent £s wisely; accessibility, the differences between urban and rural locations and diversity and local needs.

Please share your thoughts and feedback using our survey, which includes a list of the services currently provided locally. The survey will remain open until 7 January 2018 - the link to the survey is

No decisions have been made at this stage so we will be looking carefully at everything you tell us. We will apply weightings to the criteria according to what you say is important.

All the feedback from the five listening events we have held in October and November, the meetings that we have attended and the survey responses will be compiled into a long list of options and the CCGs will work with representatives of local residents to consider the ‘long list’ and produce a ‘short list’ which will be part of the CCGs’ Pre-Consultation Business Case. That will then be submitted to NHS England for their consideration before the formal consultation process can take place.

We have produced a video to introduce the survey -

We have also published a pdf briefing paper (344 KB) and some  pdf frequently asked questions (208 KB)  that provide more information.
