The CCGs' Community Conversation on medicines took place on Thursday 12 October at the Foxlowe Arts Centre in Leek.
Many of the people who attended were surprised to discover that across Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire around £2.7million is wasted on medicines which people are prescribed but then don’t use. This led to some very interesting discussions around what could be done to help avoid medicines being wasted across the region.
A number of pledges for the public, pharmacies and GP practices were shared, and there were group discussions about how these could be communicated and taken forward. All the views and suggestions from the event will be reviewed by the CCG to come up with some recommendations, which will be shared in this newsletter and on the CCG websites once completed.
We received some very positive feedback from those who attended the event, which included the following:-
